Kia showroom on Wyberton’s Quadrant development can put up illuminated signs - despite objection

A car showroom is heading in the right direction, after planners gave the latest stage of its development the green light.

Kia UK can install a number of illuminated logos at its under-construction garage on Coney Way, part of Wyberton’s Quadrant development.

An illuminated totem sign, three illuminated logo signs, one set of illuminated dealership letters, one non-illuminated entrance gate, one illuminnated service sign and one non-illuminated directional sign have received advertisement consent by Boston Borough Council.

Wyberton Parish Council had objected to the application, stating the illuminated signs would shine towards the nearby care home and ‘will be a nuisance to the residents’.

However, BBC’s planners concluded the signage ‘will be in keeping with the distinctive character of its surroundings and will have no adverse impacts on private or public amenity, nor on highway safety’.

The Quadrant development off the A16 also includes homes, Boston United’s Jakemands Community Stadium plus a Starbucks, Travelodge, Costa Coffee, Burger King, Greggs, Papa John’s and Enterprise.

Planning permission has also been granted for a filling station plus further retail units.
