Madcaps Nursery in Market Deeping plans to open a baby room following its 30th anniversary celebrations this year

A children’s nursery will open a baby room for the first time this year as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Madcaps started life as an after-school club for just 12 children but now cares for 130 preschool children in Market Deeping.

Manager Sue Bell has been there for the whole journey and is looking forward to the next chapter when the baby room opens in September.

It will be known as Tiny Treasures - The Next Generation and will operate from a new wooden lodge to be built in the grounds of Market Deeping Primary School and Madcaps Nursery.

Sue said: “The nursery has been open for about 12 years but we’ve seen an increase in demand for childcare places.

“We think our style is unique and want to be able to offer that to babies as well, to give children a happy time before they start school.

“The baby room will have a ‘hygge’ style with all natural materials. It will be a lovely space for the babies.”

The new baby room will be a family affair led by Sue’s granddaughter Sophie and daughter Sarah. It will cater for six babies from birth to two, and the nursery already has a waiting list for places.

Sue said: “It will be a peaceful, calm environment where the youngest members of our Madcaps family will be able to flourish.”

Madcaps turns 30 in May and staff hope to celebrate with a family fair and disco as well as a trip down memory lane with past and present families.

Staff have also launched a weekly messy play session which is the perfect opportunity for prospective families to find out more about the nursery. The drop-in sessions run on Wednesdays from 2-3pm at the nursery in Willoughby Avenue, Market Deeping.
