A large company in Grantham has confirmed that 35 jobs are at risk of redundancy.

Brake Brothers, based at Gonerby Moor, says it is in consultation with employees over possible redundancies.

A Brakes spokesman said: “As a result of some changes within our logistics division, which sees the transfer of some business to other divisions within the Brakes Group, as well as some other customer changes, we can confirm that Brakes has entered a period of collective consultation with some operations colleagues at its Grantham site regarding resourcing requirements.

“While the company will work closely with affected individuals and explore opportunities to avoid or mitigate the need for job losses, it may be that a small number of redundancies will be necessary at the depot.

“We are very grateful for the excellent contribution that the Grantham team has made to the Brakes Logistics business and we will continue to make every effort to support our colleagues affected by the proposal, during this unsettling time.”

The company employs about 650 people at its Grantham base. The company supplies the catering trade with food and equipment.

The Journal has been told that a Brakes contract with Welcome Break has ended which has led to possible job losses. Brakes said it could not discuss its customers.
