Grantham addiction service adapts to coronavirus lockdown
An addiction service has adapted to the coronavirus lockdown to continue its services.
We Are With You, a service which helps people with addiction, has quickly adapted to the Covid-19 crisis to support 2,500 local people experiencing issues with drugs, alcohol or mental health.
Karen Ratcliff, service manager at We Are With You Lincolnshire, said: “Although the majority of people we work with are no longer able to come into a physical building, we are adapting the way that we work together by using phones, video calls, texts and emails instead of face-to-face meetings.
“Physical services like our needle exchange and prescription service are still open between 10am and 2pm, with the addition of local pharmacies covering the hours we don’t.
“The service is running as a face-to-face service but we are adhering to public health guidance by using an intercom.
“We are still offering harm minimisation advice, the opioid overdose reversal drug naloxone and giving out information leaflets.
“We are doing everything we can to make sure people can access services like these as normal while following public health guidance to help keep the risk of the spread of the virus to a
minimum.”
