Fans of the much-loved BBC comedy ‘Allo ‘Allo will be delighted that the actress behind the series’ pint-sized waitress Mimi Labonq gives a unique glimpse behind the scenes of the show in a new book.

Having been inundated with fan mail and questions for nearly three decades, Sue Hodge decided it was time to let people know the truth behind the making of the popular series in her book Mimi’s Memoirs ‘Allo ‘Allo.

Telling the story in a heartfelt way through the eyes of madcap pocket dynamo character Mimi, Sue takes the reader on a no holds barred hilarious journey and gives a real insight into things you could only know about if you’d actually been there.

The book lifts the lid on how she flew across a cornfield as the flying nun (or maybe she didn’t!) and whether she really did get inside a grandfather clock.

It also reveals her true relationship with Rene and what he really did to her when he was pushing her along as a baby in a pram.

Ilustrations for the book have been provided by Sue’s husband, former Grantham rock musican Keith Maxon, now known as Keith ‘Paddington’ Richards – the couple were married in 2002. Keith, a former winner of ITV’s New Faces and BBC’s Rising Stars and musical director of more than 25 pantomimes at the Theatre Royal Lincoln, Hull New Theatre and The Broadway Theatre in Peterborough, has travelled all over the world with Sue and looked after her musical needs in her one woman show, ‘Allo ‘Allo Again Mimi and Me.

He said: “I’m proud to have illustrated Sue’s first book.”

The launch of the book also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the end of the series.

Sue had no idea when planning the book that its launch would also coincide with the sad loss of ‘Allo ‘Allo’s leading star and personal friend Gorden Kaye, who played lead character Rene Artois in the series.

Sue has dedicated her book to him and ‘Allo ‘Allo’s legendary writing team, David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd.

Mimi’s Memoirs ‘Allo Allo is available from Amazon.co.uk and will shortly be available on www.suehodge.biz
