Grantham High Street store Bonmarche could be saved despite closing down sale
Grantham clothing store Bonmarche is holding a closing down sale but the troubled shop is not in imminent danger of closing, says the company’s administrators.
It was announced last year that the fashion chain had gone into administration and it was reported that 30 stores would close before Christmas.
The High Street store in Grantham continues to trade and there is a possibility that it could be saved if a bidder steps in for the company. More than 280 Bonmarche stores continue to trade in the UK.
A spokesperson for Bonmarche’s administrators said: “There are no plans to close the (Grantham) store currently and it continues to trade. As Bonmarche is in administration, many sites across the country have had ‘closing down sale’ signs placed in store. The property portfolio remains under constant assessment.
“It was announced on November 28 that Peacocks had been identified as a preferred bidder for Bonmarche.
“Negotiations are ongoing and the vast majority of open stores are expected to be part of a deal from the bidder.”
