Residents to move as Castlegate House Residential Home in Grantham to close
A Grantham care home is set to close with “deep regret”, citing increasing running costs and “fluctuating occupancy” as the causes.
Castlegate House Residential Home, in Castlegate, has made the decision to close, with preparations under way to relocate residents elsewhere.
A spokesperson for the home told the Journal: “It is with deep regret that the directors of Castlegate Rest Home have the made the very difficult decision to close Castlegate Rest Home and to cease trading.
“This is a direct result of the ever increasing costs of heat, light and power, as well as the increasing cost of living coupled with a fluctuating occupancy, and sadly we were in the position of being unable to sustain the service.
“Castlegate Rest Home is working closely with the Lincolnshire County Council to ensure all who are living at the service are supported in the transition into their new homes.
“We have also liaised with the Care Quality Commission (CQQ) and have a robust action plan in place to ensure continuity and safe care is delivered during this transitional period.”
The Journal asked the spokesperson how many residents and staff are affected but they failed to respond.
In its last inspection, in May 2021, the CQC stated there were 15 residents in the home at that time.
Lincolnshire County Council confirmed it is working with Castlegate House.
Edward Baker, contract manager, said: “We have been made aware of Castlegate House Care Home’s decision to close.
“Our social work team are working closely with staff, residents and their families to ensure everyone can move to suitable new accommodation over the coming weeks as part of a managed home closure process. The wellbeing and safety of residents remains our top priority.”
