Couple launch new 24-hour gym in Grantham town centre
A new 24-hour gym has launched in Grantham town centre.
Clubfit 24 opened its doors at 10-12 Watergate four weeks ago and has already attracted a steady flow of new customers.
It is the third gym opening for 23-year-old owner Laurence James, who set up his first gym in Rushden, Northampton, three years ago and his second in Leicester last year, alongside partner Poppy Colson.
They chose Grantham as the location for their latest venture after having ‘an eye on the town as a possible location’ for a while.
For just £15.99 a month with a contract or £19.99 with no contract, customers are offered a ‘small, personal, quality, family run gym with a good community vibe’. They also have access to a group of ‘dedicated, friendly and outgoing staff members.’
Laurence added: “It is convenient and central to town. My brother Josh who lives in Grantham created the website. It really does have a family feel which is not something you normally get with a ‘budget’ gym.”
Equipment available includes all the standard cardio equipment such as treadmills, cross-trainers, steppers, bikes and rowers, weight resistance equipment, a free weights area with squat rack, smith machine and bench press and dumbbells up to 50kg.
There is also a functional stretch area with boxing bag, jungle gym straps, abs equipment and kettlebells.
Laurence added: “We want to help make people healthier but ensure they have fun while doing it. We aim to transform people’s lives both physically and mentally in a positive environment.”
Members can also take advantage of the variety of gym classes included within the membership including abs blast and body conditioning. The classes are £5 per class for non members. There are also showers and a locker room.
Since its launch last month, Laurence says that they ‘have received a good response’, adding: “We like to treat people as a person and not as a number.”
