'Embrace the iconic flavours of Grantham'
Flavours synonymous with Grantham have been blended together to create a special gin on sale at a Grantham bar.
Grantham Gin is a unique blend of spiced apple and gingerbread, paying homage to Grantham’s son Isaac Newton and the fallen apple, and the famous Grantham Gingerbread recipe.
It was launched by The Juniper Tap, in Market Place, before Christmas, and proved so popular that it will be available all year round.
Not only that, the family-run business hopes the gin - the first made especially for Grantham - will soon be on sale further afield
Karen Adams, who runs Juniper with husband Paul and son Luke, said: “It’s Grantham’s first gin. We said we wanted a gin to show what Grantham’s all about.”
It took seven attempts to create the perfect blend, and it’s one that was given a big thumbs-up during a recent winter gin tasting event. It was so popular, 17 bottles were pre-ordered that night and in the following two weeks 100 were quickly sold.
Next on the ‘a-gin-da’ is a dry gin, again with a Grantham theme, and it is hoped it will be available by March.
Luke said: “I hope people embrace the flavours of the town. I want people to celebrate the iconic local flavours, the local history.”
The gin is currently only available at the gin bar.
