A graphic design company in Grantham is celebrating 20 years in business but is determinedly protecting its small business status.

Giger Media, which supplies clients with creative design, print and web-based services, began life in 1995 as a one man operation.

Growth is important to us, however we don’t want to become a 20 plus team of people that clients simply can’t engage with.

Two decades later the business has moved out of the home of its founder and creative director Tony Lee and into premises at Autumn Park Business Centre, in Dysart Road.

But it still has less than a handful of staff.

Mr Lee said: “Giger Media is very proud of its small business status. Size is an important factor of the business.

“For many years it was just me with a freelancer on board when needed.

“In recent years we have become so busy, and long term client relationships are an important part of our ethos so we simply had to make the jump from freelancers to employees - and it’s been a great move.

“Growth is important to us, however we don’t want to become a 20 plus team of people that clients simply can’t engage with.”

Including Mr Lee, the team includes Roseline, graphic designer, Stuart, programmer, and recent arrival Jodie as office manager.

Mr Lee began to build the business after leaving a industrial design career in London.

He said: “It was a roller coaster ride when I first set up, having to juggle a fledging design business and a young family.

“Then we would always try to see a client at their offices or workplace as some people just didn’t take the business seriously being based at home.

“Now things are different. The company provides a complete range of creative services from its funky star wars clad Dysart Road offices.

“My wife and children were extremely supportive and understanding for the first 15 years whilst both the family and the business grew, but now the children aren’t so little, steady and sustainable business growth has been the focus since 2010, with everything from the new offices, the team, our service development and product range.”

Giger Media has been the main sponsor for the Knipfest live music charity event for the past two years and will be main sponsor again next year.
