Grantham Journal Big Interview: Winning solicitors at heart of community
JMP Solicitors have been helping local clients for the past 14 years.
This year saw the firm expand and build on its close links with other companies in the area, making it a worthy winner of the prestigious Business of the Year title at the Grantham Journal Business Awards. Managing director Ian Howard told us more about the firm.
What did it mean to win?
We have grown the business in Grantham over the last 12 months and continually reinvested in the town through sponsorships and individual commitments to organisations. To be awarded ‘Business of the Year’ is an honour and is great recognition of the work everyone has done at JMP.
What can clients expect from JMP?
We pride ourselves on a “one client – one lawyer” approach so that the same lawyer is responsible for that client from the outset until case conclusion. Everyone at JMP is extremely approachable and personable - we understand obtaining legal advice is, for many, a daunting experience, and we don’t forget that we are people too and approach the delivery of our advice and services from the perspective of the client. We think this sets us apart from the more traditional law firms.
What services do you offer?
A wide range of private client and business legal services, including personal injury law (including clinical negligence and industrial disease), wills and probate, conveyancing, commercial law (including commercial litigation) and family law. We also have very strong links with several other law firms and barristers who are happy to assist our clients in areas we may not specifically cover. We provide a comprehensive range of legal services to individuals, families and businesses. Whatever you require in terms of legal service we can help, except for criminal law.
And at the awards you talked about feeling very much part of Grantham.
Yes, Grantham has a fantastic community spirit which transcends into the business sector. We have over the last year invested our time and resources into getting to know business owners and professional intermediaries such as banks, accountants, insurers, surveyors and estate agents, and consider ourselves as a real alternative to the more established firms and the more traditional approach. We also take great pride in sponsoring the Guildhall and promoting local arts and culture.
What is the secret to your success and what are your plans for the future?
The last 12 months has been a fantastic period and, as well as those in the firm, we recognise that we could not have achieved this without our clients in all sectors of our business. The growth that has been achieved has provided the foundations and confidence for us to further invest in Grantham over the course of the next year, and we are already expanding with three new appointments this month.
