Ingoldsby couple transform home into Christmas 'Grinch' land for charities
A couple have transformed their home to look like a corner of Whoville, a fictional town created by author Theodor Seuss Geisel, under the name Dr Seuss, to raise money for charity.
Ian Hage and Kenneth Burton have decorated their home at Field House, Main Street, Ingoldsby, with lights and trees and even a Grinch’s cave to raise funds for Dementia UK and Mental Health UK.
Ian said: “We have spent a lot of time in the United States where the Grinch is huge. We wanted an unusual Christmas theme for this year’s display so the Grinch just sprang to mind.”
This year’s build began back in June with chicken wire and paper mache being used to create the Grinch’s cave.
It is the second year that the festive pair have put on a Christmas display for charity.
Last year, they hosted a Narnia themed event with members of the public invited to walk through the wardrobe into the winter wonderland.
You can visit the house between 5pm and 8pm each night until December 28 (except Christmas Day) Children will also be able to meet Santa and the Grinch himself. There is no charge but there is a pot for donations if you enjoy it.
Ian added: “We raised about £1,800 last year so we hope to cross the £2,000 mark this time. Our Christmas Wonderland is all about sharing our time and our lives with people in the hope that we can make a difference.”
