Man arrested on suspicion of murder after death in Grantham street
A 37-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found with serious injuries this morning.
Police say they received an emergency 999 call this morning, Saturday, October 14, just after 4.20am, reporting a man had been found with serious injuries at a house in Eton Street.
Officers attended and found a man with what are believed to be knife wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been made aware.
A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Officers and staff are at the scene and in the area as the investigation continues.
A forensic tent has been put up in Eton Street, which remains cordoned off by police, as members of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit conduct an investigation.
Detective Inspector Melanie Crutchley, Senior Investigating Officer, East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “We are at the very early stages in our investigation. I appreciate the local community will be concerned by this sad news this morning.
“I can say we have arrested a man in his 30s and are not looking for anyone else at this stage. He remains in custody and we will update as the enquiry progresses.
"I would appeal for anyone who believes they can help with information to get in touch.”
A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “This is a very sad incident. It does not add to our security. We have only just moved into our house a few months ago.”
