Moto and Gridserve work together to install new rapid charging points for electric vehicles at Grantham service station on A1
A new rapid charging facility for electric vehicles has been added to a service station on the A1.
Moto, the UK’s largest motorway services operator, and sustainable energy company Gridserve are bringing twelve new Ultra Rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging points to Moto Grantham.
This is part of an ongoing nationwide effort to transform access to charging facilities and reduce range anxiety for EV motorists.
Initially, six chargers have been launched at Grantham with six more scheduled to open at Grantham in June
The new hubs will provide road users with access to chargers capable of adding up to 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes.
All the new chargers can be found online and aim to provide EV motorists across the country with reassurance that their charging options have been significantly expanded.
The ultra rapid, up to 350kW, charging points will be supplied with 100 per cent net zero carbon energy from Gridserve’s solar farms and accept contactless payments.
All the new Ultra Rapid electric vehicle charging hubs have also been designed to feature both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors and provide at least one extra-wide accessible charging bay for every six EV charging spaces.
Moto chief executive, Ken McMeikan said: ”We are thrilled to announce twelve new chargers at Moto Grantham and Moto Leeming Bar as our commitment to delivering a more sustainable future of motoring continues.
“Our latest Ultra Rapid Charging Hubs in the Midlands and North Yorkshire are a fantastic testament to our ambition to transform the UK’s motorways with the largest ultra rapid charging hub network across England Scotland and Wales and our ambition to install more than 1,600 ultra rapid chargers by 2030.”
Toddington Harper, CEO of Gridserve, said: “We are thrilled to open these electric super hubs at Grantham and Leeming Bar.
“As the demand for electric vehicles and charging increases, it is vital we continue this pace to roll out the installation of High Power chargers to support EV drivers and those making the switch to electric.
“We look forward to continuing the expansion and installing hundreds of more high power chargers across our network.”
