Video: America’s Got Talent favourite Tape Face will perform in Grantham
A British comedian set to perform in Grantham in September is making waves in America as a favourite on US TV show America’s Got Talent.
The Boy with Tape on His Face – also known as Tape Face – was put through the audition rounds and judges’ cuts to reach the live shows, which begin on Tuesday.
He is Sam Wills, a comedian from Canterbury, and an act which really does have tape on his face and uses facial expressions and body language to entertain.
In the judges’ cuts show broadcast on Tuesday (July 19), Tape Face pulled judge Howie Mandel on stage – watch the video to see what happened!
Afterwards, judge Simon Cowell said: “I normally can’t bear this kind of act because it is a bit circusy, but you are like Mr Bean or Charlie Chaplin.
“You are so recognisable. I like the fact that I have no idea who you are and I don’t want to know.”
Tape Face will perform at the Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham on Tuesday, September 6.
Presented by Kilimanjaro Live and Gag Reflex, this is how the show is described: “Every once in a while, something magical reminds us that we all have an inner child that must be fed.
“Through simple, clever and charming humour aimed at satisfying that hunger, Tape Face has created one of the most accessible and enjoyable shows the world has ever seen.
“Mime with noise, stand-up with no talking – drama with no acting. Tape Face has to be seen to be believed.
“So what does he do exactly? Well, simply mentioning any aspect of this diverse show would be a disservice – the less you know the more you will enjoy this show.
“Tape Face is a character with universal appeal. Delightful, wry, many-layered and hilarious, he transcends the barriers of language and culture.
“You’ll laugh, you’ll scream and ultimately end up like Tape Face – lost for words.”
The Guildhall show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16 – to buy call the box office on 01476 406158 or book online.
The show is classified as suitable for age 10+.
