'We had to save it', says new owner of Grantham trampoline park Jump Revolution
A popular trampoline park which closed unexpectedly has bounced back under new ownership.
Jump Revolution, on the Springfield Business Park, shut its doors last week, leaving many customers concerned about its future.
But it was quickly taken over by Gemma Rosling, 31, who has worked at the indoor trampoline park since it opened in 2016, her husband Paul and brother-in-law Kerr Dickson, with support from their family.
Gemma, who worked on reception until last week, said: “The staff found out that it was going to close more or less the same time as everyone else. It was out of the blue and a huge shock to all of us.
“I was in tears thinking of all the kids. There’s hardly anything for them in town so we knew straight away that we had to save it. The staff wanted it and the town wanted it.”
After hearing the news, Kerr, 43, who has worked as a butcher for 30 years, handed in his notice and jumped onboard.
He said: “The family have always toyed with the idea of opening up something similar in another town so when this opportunity presented itself, I just knew we had to do it, especially with Gemma and the other staff already having the knowledge, experience and passion for the business.”
The team has already got plenty of ideas to drive the business forward but is eager to engage with the public to find out what they would like to see at Jump.
Kerr added: “Jump has been coasting along for a while now. We want to change this and make things exciting and fun again with new events and offers every week. We want people to want to know what’s going on at Jump each week.”
The team admitted that they were wary about any possible backlash when they reopened on Monday following the sudden closure last week, but are pleased with the support they have received so far.
Gemma added: “We just want people to know that we as a team did everything we could to save it from the brink.
“We didn’t really have time to think so we really do appreciate everyone’s continued support.
“It’s very much a family business and that’s including the staff, many of who have been at Jump since the beginning. We have all been a family from day one and we are all working together to make this work.
“It’s been a crazy few days.”
As the business only reopened on Monday, they are asking the public to bear with them while new systems are put in place.
Kerr added: “We are in the process of updating our website so we are only able to accept phone bookings at present or you can come in and see us. We can also only accept cash at present.”
Determined to get going the team have already created a few incentives including a Facebook competition during half-term to win a month’s free pass, a ‘win back Wednesday’ competition and they will also be hosting an after dark disco on Friday during half-term.
