Nathan Arnold resigns as manager of Grantham Town

Nathan Arnold has resigned as manager of relegated Grantham Town.

The former Lincoln City and Grimsby Town player has stepped down with three matches of the Northern Premier League Midlands Division campaign remaining.

Arnold took over at the start of January but failed to win a single match in charge and was unable to save Grantham from relegation to step five of the non-league pyramid.

A club statement said: Grantham Town can confirm they have accepted the resignation of first team manager Nathan Arnold.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Nathan, Dennis, and Carlos for all of their hard work over the last four months and wish them well in their future endeavours.

"First team coach and Academy manager, Tom Ford, will oversee the team for the final three matches."

Grantham host Darlaston Town at the Meres on Saturday before travelling to Long Eaton on Easter Monday.

They complete their campaign next weekend (April 26) with a home match against Bedworth United.

Arnold commented: "I've made the decision to step away from my role as manager of Grantham Town.

"It's not a decision I've taken lightly. While I/(management team) were fully committed to rebuilding and pushing the club forward, we weren't able to find alignment on the direction of the club at this stage.

"You can't build on uncertainty and it's through circumstance that we've been unable find footing to leverage what we've started.

"I'm proud of the work done during an incredibly challenging period - stabilising the financial structure, leading through uncertainty, and keeping morale intact.

"With more than 70 players registered this season, it speaks to the instability we've faced but also to the resilience of the group.

"To the players, my staff, and the supporters: thank you. Your commitment through adversity has meant everything.

"Grantham Town has great potential and I believe setbacks like this can be the spark for future success."

Grantham are currently being taking over by a new consortium following the resignation of chairman Paul Rawden.
