Lincoln register office is on the market with Eddisons ahead of move
Lincoln register office has been put on the market for £600,000.
Lincolnshire County Council is moving the office for marriages and other ceremonies to a bigger venue at Orchard House in Orchard Street, Lincoln.
The new venue will be able to hold more ceremonies and the largest ceremony room will hold up to 60 people, rather than 40 which is the capacity of the current office. There will also be two rooms for smaller ceremonies, all in more modern, accessible facilities.
With six months until the move from the current home in Lindum Road, that building has now gone up for sale and is being marketed by Eddisons.
In the brochure, the property is described as a “substantial city centre period office building” and says that in the estate agents opinion “whilst the property offers attractive office accommodation with on-site parking, it also offers potential for conversion/reuse for a variety of different uses, including residential”.
Executive councillor for registration and celebratory services Sue Woolley (Con) said of the move: “We are continuing to see significant demand for marriages and civil partnerships in our register offices, so I’m delighted that we’ll be able to provide better options for residents in Lincoln.
“Couples will be able to invite more guests to their larger ceremonies, and we can offer more flexibility in arrangements for smaller services too.”
Coun Richard Butroid (Con), executive councillor for property services, said: “We are constantly looking at the buildings we need as a council to be able to offer services in convenient locations for residents, as well as appropriate office space for our staff. This move is beneficial to everyone - making better use of the buildings we own while improving services for residents.”
