Sign up for Bluebell Walk and Cycle Ride at Rutland Water for Crohn's and Colitis UK
A group of local volunteers are hosting a walk or bike ride to raise awareness and funds for a charity.
The Bluebell Walk or Cycle Ride takes place at Rutland Water on Sunday, May 4, from 10am to 4pm, for Crohn's & Colitis UK.
Participants can choose either a two, five or nine-mile walk or a cycle ride of 17 or 25 miles around a marshalled course.
There will be an event village at Whitwell featuring face painters, garden games, merchandise stands and refreshments.
The relaxed event, run and organised by volunteers living with bowel disease, typically attracts around 300 participants, mostly families with varying ages from under 16 to over 80.
“We are a passionate team and not only do we want to promote our fantastic charity we also want to raise money to support those affected by these terrible diseases,” said lead volunteer Ben Rutter.
“Crohn's and Colitis are often taboo illnesses. Nobody wants to talk about poo and bowels but these diseases are much more than that.
“Whoever you are, a diagnosis of Crohn's or Colitis will be life changing.”
