Taylor Wimpey to hold public consultation over Oakham development
Residents are being invited to have their say on plans for 165 new homes.
The development is proposed by housebuilder Taylor Wimpey for land off Brooke Road in Oakham.
A drop-in consultation event will be held at Wesley Hall, Oakham Methodist Church, North Gate, Oakham, LE15 6QS, on Friday, January 24, from 3pm to 7pm.
The event will introduce the proposals and provide visitors with an opportunity to give the developer some feedback.
Proposals include the creation of up to 165 new homes, with 30% designated as ‘affordable’ housing. The plans also include new open spaces, equipped play areas, and biodiversity enhancements.
The development, if granted by Rutland County Council through the planning process, would include changes to the Welland Way junction with Brooke Road to help vehicles turn left out of Brooke Road when the level crossing barriers are down.
Brooke Road would be widened to provide more on-street parking bays for existing residents and a new drop-off and pick-up car park would be created for Brooke Hill Academy, to help reduce congestion and parking during the school run.
A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey said: "The site is a highly sustainable location and will make an important contribution to meeting Rutland’s housing needs.
“We hope these plans provide clarity to all on the significant community benefits, such as affordable homes, improvements to Brooke Road, biodiversity enhancements and publicly accessible open space for the community to enjoy.
“We value residents’ feedback and will use it to help shape our application, so we encourage residents to review the plans and share their feedback or questions with us.”
Taylor Wimpey is seeking the public’s views before finalising its plans. The company has set up a website for the project at www.twbrookeroad.co.uk, where people can view the plans and leave feedback.
A freephone telephone number, 0800 689 5209, has also been created and people can email the developers at info@twbrookeroad.co.uk.
Taylor Wimpey is asking for feedback on its proposals by Tuesday, February 11.
