A ‘number of people stuck in the air’ after fairground ride malfunctions in Skegness




A fairground ride has malfunctioned, leaving a ‘number of people stuck in the air’.

Emergency services are currently on the scene at Bottons Pleasure Beach in Skegness, where a ride is stuck around 4m off the ground.

Around 25 people are on the ride.

“A ride has malfunctioned and remains suspended in the air with a number of people stuck on the ride,” a Lincolnshire Police statement said.

“Fire and ambulance are also attending.”

Police are asking members of the public to avoid the area whilst ‘emergency services work together to ensure the safety of the people on the ride whilst they are being rescued’.

“No serious injuries have currently been reported,” the police statement added.

Meanwhile a Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue statement added: “Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called to an incident at Skegness Pleasure Beach at 3.30pm this afternoon.

“A ride is stuck around 4m from the ground. The site has been cleared, and the fire service are helping to get around 25 passengers off the ride.

“Appliances attending include two from Skegness, Wainfleet, Spilsby, aerial appliance from Boston, heavy rescue from Louth and Grantham, command support from Louth and Alford and the urban search and rescue team.”
