Hatters Hotel in Skegness to go under hammer with guide price of £650,000
An Alice in Wonderland-themed seaside hotel is to go up for auction.
Hatters Hotel in Skegness is going under the hammer with Pugh Auctions on Wednesday (March 26) with a guide price of £650,000.
The 29-bedroom hotel, which has appeared on Channel 4’s Four in a Bed, was bought by Gary and Dee Allen in 2021.
The pair spent £300,000 converting the hotel into the Alice in Wonderland theme, which was inspired by Dee’s love for the Disney film and book.
Ed Feather, a director at Pugh, said: “The upcoming auction will be a great opportunity to buy this large hotel that has been lovingly transformed into its own version of Wonderland, right here in Skegness.
“The Alice theme is not integral to the building however and the hotel could easily be redesigned with a fresh aesthetic in the hands of new owners.
“There is also the potential for redevelopment, subject to a buyer gaining the necessary planning consent.
“Residential accommodation is one option and plans have already been drawn to convert part of the property into nine self-contained apartments.”
In October, Dee and Gary announced they were offering the hotel as a grand prize in a raffle, if enough tickets were sold at £5 each.
The pair needed to sell 240,000 tickets to offer the hotel as the main prize in the raffle, which closed on March 12.
However, the tickets total wasn’t quite reached to make the hotel the grand prize.
Hatters Hotel will be available along more than 120 other properties and plots of land in the online auction at www.pugh-auctions.com.
Bidding opens today (Tuesday March 25) and closes tomorrow.
