Police have confirmed that body discovered near Tattershall is of missing man Stuart
Police have confirmed that a body found in a river is that of a missing man.
The body of a man was discovered in the River Witham, near Tattershall on April 10 but forensic tests have been conducted in recent weeks to confirm the identity of the person.
Police say it has now been confirmed that the body was missing man Stuart. The force has not revealed the man’s surname.
Officers put out an appeal on April 6 for help to find a man in his 70s who had gone missing from his home in Lincoln.
A statement released by the force says: “We are sad to report that the body of a man found in the River Witham, near Tattershall, is that of missing man Stuart.
“The discovery was made on 10 April. Thorough forensic enquiries were then made over several weeks to confirm the identity of the deceased, and Stuart’s next of kin have been informed.
“A file is being prepared for the coroner, and we would like to thank members of the public who shared our appeals.”
