South Holland residents can get Specsavers home visit for hearing services

South Holland residents will now be able to access expert hearing services in their own homes - the first of its kind in the country.

Specsavers Lincolnshire Home Visits has delivered vision care within the homes of people throughout the area since 2017, but this new service means they can now offer free home hearing tests, conducted by a fully qualified audiologist, to people unable to get to their high street stores.

This is the first Specsavers Home Visits audiology service in England and is led by Jessica Beasley, an audiologist and director of the business.

“We’re delighted to be extending our Home Visits service to include audiology, it was a natural progression as the same people who find it difficult to visit Specsavers stores for an eye test, naturally struggle to visit for a hearing test,” she said.

“We can now ensure that all customers receive the same level of expert hearing and eye care in their own homes, as they would in one of our stores.

“Undiagnosed hearing loss can be isolating and for people who already find it difficult to leave their home, it can be a real

trigger for loneliness.”

The new audiology team will cover a total of 36 postcodes, including South Holland and surrounding areas.

Through the home visits service, customers will have access to the same customer service and care they would receive in a Specsavers store.

In addition to working with Specsavers stores across the region, the team will liaise with GP surgeries, care providers and community groups to help make hear care accessible to all.

Along with her business partners, Jessica plans to recruit three hearing care assistants over the coming months and train the team’s four optical assistants to spot the signs of hearing loss, so they can do case referrals for

audiology.

Jessica and her team will visit between 30–40 customers a week, with plans to increase capacity within the next six to eight months.

Specsavers Lincolnshire Home Visits will support those who are unable to get about, including those who are house-bound, in sheltered accommodation, care homes or special care facilities.
