Bookies reveal who they think will be Greater Lincolnshire’s first mayor

Dame Andrea Jenkyns is currently the bookies’ favourite to win the first-ever mayoral election for Greater Lincolnshire.

Six candidates representing the Conservative Party, Labour Party, Green Party, Reform UK, Lincolnshire Independents and Liberal Democrats are hoping to secure the new role and lead the newly-established Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.

However, data compiled by Oddschecker, using odds from William Hill, Ladbrokes and Coral, suggests Ms Jenkyns, the Reform UK candidate, has the best chance of being elected.

As of today (Wednesday), William Hill is offering odds of 8/11, while Ladbrokes and Coral both have her at 4/6.

Meanwhile, Conservative candidate Rob Waltham has odds of 11/10 with William Hill and 6/5 with both Ladbrokes and Coral.

Labour’s Jason Stockwood and Lincolnshire Independent candidate Marianne Overton are at 10/1 and 33/1 respectively across the board.

Liberal Democrat Trevor Young is at 50/1 with William Hill and 66/1 with both Ladbrokes and Coral.

The Green Party’s Sally Horscroft has the longest odds, at 100/1 across the board.

Ms Jenkyns recently said the region needed a 'disruptor' in the mayoral role.

"There are too many yes people in politics, in all parties, and I've never been a yes person," she said.

However, she could be at risk of disqualification from the election due to a complaint lodged against her.

It is understood to centre on allegations that her main residence is in Yorkshire, where she previously served as an MP.

She is due to face a hearing on Friday (April 25), just six days before voters head to the polls.

Reform UK has insisted the complaint will not prevent her from remaining its candidate.

A Reform UK spokesperson said: “We understand a vexatious and politically motivated complaint has been made by the relative of a candidate in the same election that Andrea Jenkyns is contesting in an attempt to deprive the people of Lincolnshire the chance to vote for a Reform UK candidate.

“We are confident that this complaint will be dismissed.”

An online hustings between candidates was held on Wednesday by LincsOnline, in partnership with Lincolnshire Live and Grimsby Live, but Ms Jenkyns declined to take part.
