Holbeach branch of Nationwide is not closing but opening hours are reduced

A building society says it is not closing a town branch despite reducing its opening hours.

Nationwide Building Society in West End, Holbeach, will be closed on Mondays and Thursdays under new opening hours which come into effect on June 19.

Nationwide says under this new arrangement staff will be helping people over the phone on Mondays and Thursdays in order to ‘serve more people quickly’.

This branch is the only remaining bank or building society remaining on the eastern side of South Holland with Long Sutton’s TSB closing in recent years.

A spokesman said: “As a mutual we want to provide our members with distinctive service. This means our colleagues being where they are most needed to serve our members.

“From Monday, June 19, the Holbeach branch will be closed on Mondays and Thursdays, this will enable our branch colleagues to help members on the phone.

“The branch will remain open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday as normal.

“There are no job losses and we are not closing the branch we are making the change so we are able to serve more people more quickly and keep branches on the high street.”

In 2021, the front of the West End branch was damaged after ramraiders ripped the cash point.
