Cargo ship pushed into Wisbech after being stuck in River Nene near Sutton Bridge




A general cargo ship had to be rescued after it became stuck in the river near Foul Anchor on Saturday.

Baltic Express (formerly Lady Nora) was pushed back to Wisbech harbour by tugs following the incident near Sutton Bridge on the River Nene.

The vessel, which sails under the flag of St Kitts and Nevis was built in 2001 in the Netherlands, had departed from Vlaardingen in the Netherlands on February 13 and has since made calls at Kiel and Rostock both in Germany and also Riga in Latvia.

She left Latvia in the early hours of February 20 heading for Wisbech.

The ship, which is listed as a general cargo vessel, is 80m long and 12m wide.
