Does Spalding town centre have a sewage smell?

Is there a problem with a sewage smell in the town centre?

Concerns of a stink in the Market Place and Hall Place area of Spalding were recently raised on our Facebook page - so we have put these to Anglian Water who are asking people to report it.

The issue was raised on our Facebook page by Roland Hare, who was commenting on proposals to remove town centre parking bays as part of plans to tighten up the rules governing the much ignored pedestrian zone.

He said: “At the same time as you remove traffic from town centre will you also remove that stench of sewerage in the town centre (Red Lion/Costa/Lloyds Bank area) that in itself would make town more appealing.”

Anglian Water is now asking shoppers to let them know of the problems.

A spokesman said: “The nature of the work we do does mean there will inevitably be some smells from time to time, especially when the weather is warmer, but we want to be the best neighbours we can and keeping odours to a minimum is something we take seriously.

“We would ask residents who notice unpleasant smells to contact us directly and let them know of the time, date and location when they smelt the odour, so we can investigate thoroughly.”

If you would like to report a smell to Anglian Water please call 03457 145 145.
