Developers bringing back the buzz to Holbeach High Street

Spalding property developers aim to bring back “the buzz” to Holbeach High Street by giving a new lease of life to two run down hotels.

Jamie Sandford and business partner Robert Bridgewater, who run API Investments, started work on The Bell Hotel on Monday.

Jamie says they aim to convert the building into five flats while the pub area will become either a restaurant or a shop subject to planning consent.

They hope to complete the job by mid-November.

Their builders moved in at The Chequers in early February.

Jamie said: “Already there have been some visible changes. We have re-roofed sections of the building, shot-blasted the external to expose the brickwork and begun to restore the windows as well as completing the four residential units at the back.”

A planning application that will see a further 11 residential units and the ground floor kept as a pub is due to go to the district council planning meeting on May 28.

Subject to consent, API hope to complete the renovation in January.

Jamie says: “ We are very excited to be able to put our stamp on two prominent buildings in Holbeach and we hope within the coming months the local people continue to support us and the business that will occupy the properties.

“We have had overwhelming positive comments from the public, councillors and local authority. The Chequers is a big building sitting in the centre of town that was left to fall into disrepair. We are very proud to be taking on a project that will help bring back the buzz to Holbeach.”
