Fire service warning to stay out of abandoned buildings after teenager falls from roof

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is warning of the dangers of derelict buildings and building sites after a teenager fell from a roof in Bourne.

The 14-year-old boy was flown to hospital by air ambulance after the incident in Harvey Close, Bourne, yesterday.

Now Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue says there are "hidden dangers" as they praised the team work of emergency services.

In a Tweet, they said: "Yesterday we attended an incident that required the team work of over 20 people from all emergency services, working together for the same outcome. Please keep out of building sites & abandoned buildings there are too many hidden dangers."

It comes as Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, a charity which relies on donations to keep flying, also released a statement. They confirmed the boy was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

A spokesman said: “On Tuesday, 9 June, our crew was called to an emergency in Bourne following reports of a 14-year-old boy who had fallen from height.

“Our Ambucopter arrived on scene in 14 minutes, a journey that by land could have taken up to an hour. Our crew carried out a number of advanced clinical interventions including a blood transfusion. The patient was then taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.”
