Flamingo Flowers and Plants enters consultation with staff at Weston and Low Fulney

It is feared jobs could be lost as an international business has 'entered a period of consultation' with its staff at two South Holland sites.

Flamingo Group - which has farms in Kenya and Ethiopia - is blaming a 'significant increase in operating costs' for the move, which affects the Flowers site in Weston and Plants site in Low Fulney.

The news in the same week that eat-in dining firm Gousto has announced it is closing a factory in Spalding and internet provider LightSpeed Broadband is making job cuts.

"Following a significant increase in operating costs, Flamingo Flowers and Plants have entered into a period of consultation with employees at their sites in Weston and Spalding," a statement read.

"We realise this can be a difficult period for those colleagues impacted by these proposed changes, but we believe they are in the long term interests of operating a sustainable business.

"We cannot comment further on any individual circumstances, due to the ongoing consultation process, however, can confirm this is part of a wider business improvement plan, being overseen by Martin Hudson, co-founder of the business, who was appointed interim CEO of Flamingo Group International in March 2023."
