Lincolnshire County Council says town centre work will not affect Spalding Flower Parade

Highways officials say work to spruce up the town centre will not affect Spalding Flower Parade.

Lincolnshire County Council has started to improve damaged kerbing and paving areas in Sheep Market and Hall Place, Spalding.

Information signs around the compound, which has been set-up in Hall Place, say that work is due to continue until June - which sparked fears that this would create problems for Spalding Flower Parade on Saturday, May 10.

But officials have promised to ensure that the works will not affect the event.

A spokesman said: “The works on Sheep Market are expected to be completed within two weeks with the rest of the works within the town centre being completed over the next two months, subject to unforeseen circumstances.

“Regarding the flower parade, we won’t be working on that Saturday, and we'll ensure that we’re all packed up and offering an unimpeded thoroughfare for the parade by Friday afternoon of the 9th May.”
