Fresh political message has been sprayed onto Spalding town centre street artwork
Fresh graffiti has appeared on a town centre street artwork.
A second political message has been sprayed onto the mural which adorns the former Calthorps building in Spalding’s Market Place.
This artwork had been commissioned in the run-up to Spalding Flower Parade to hide an unslightly graffiti tag.
South Holland street artist Karl Barfoot, who is known as Honr, had spent hours in the run-up to the big event in May creating the piece which depicts a woman with a flower in her hair.
In June, someone had sprayed: “There are over 60,000 children without access 2 education in England… why?”
Now a fresh message has sprayed onto the opposite of the mural in orange writing. It says: “There are no sides because there is no coin! Listen to everyone! We have no democracy! That’s why nothing every changes. RBS!!”
Spalding has suffered from a number of graffiti incidents in recent months which saw Lincolnshire Police and South Holland District Council work together.
A spokesman for the police said: “This is something we take very seriously and we recognise the impact that such crimes have on the local community.
“We are working in partnership with South Holland District Council to identify the culprit and we would like to reassure residents that we are dealing with this robustly.”
