Spalding Springfields Event and Conference Centre hosts Merry Makers Market with hundreds visiting festive event on Small Business Saturday UK

Hundreds of shoppers made a start to their festive shopping at a festive market.

The Merry Makers Market took place on Saturday at the Springfields Events and Conference Centre in Spalding.

Organiser Jodie Mason, from Spalding, said: “This was the biggest one at Spalding – and the biggest indoor event – which was nice for a Christmas market as we were blessed with the heating.

“We had hundreds of shoppers through the doors and there were 100 stallholders – all local Lincolnshire businesses – all hand-picked and curated by me.

“I am careful not to pick duplicate stalls so that there are a lot of different nice things.”

Stallholders were happy with the turnout on the day.

Miss Mason said: “It was Small Business Saturday nationally – and one lady said she had sold more on Saturday than in the whole of November.

“It shows how much people were supporting small businesses.

“All the traders were happy saying they smashed it in terms of selling – it was a record event for some of them.”

Shoppers could do their Christmas shopping and buy bespoke handmade gifts.

Miss Mason added: “There were so many unique products that you can’t find on the high street.

“People like to buy from people and it was definitely and it was definitely the place to be for unique handmade gifts.

“It is nice because it is our most local event and nice to bring it to Spalding.

“I am really happy that the public came out to support us – we always wonder how it is going to go and it exceeded our expectations.”
