Volunteer at Spalding's British Heart Foundation shop tests his knowledge on BBC Radio 2's PopMaster with Ken Bruce

A lucky charity shop worker was put to the test when he appeared on on popular quiz show.

BBC Radio 2’s PopMaster is featured on Ken Bruce’s show and tests peoples knowledge on music against the rest of the nation.

Matt Paul, who works in the Spalding British Heart Foundation shop, got his knowledge grilled when he recently appeared on the mid-morning show.

On Thursday, January 26, Matt received a call from the BBC telling him he would be on the show - and two hours later he was being put through his paces.

Matt, an avid listener to the show, said: “ It is definitely my favourite show and I listen whenever I can.”

All that listening made him determined to take part for himself.

He added: “ I had some time so I thought I’d just go for it.”

In the time running up to his feature on the show, Matt stated he was terribly nervous about being on live radio.

However, he said: “After being on the show for a bit I became more relaxed. I was better than I thought I was going to be.”

The prize up for grabs for winning PopMaster includes some Bluetooth headphones - but that proved beyond Matt.

A T-shirt was, however, won by Matt for taking part in the quiz, and he jokingly said: “I hoped to get the headphones but you can’t win them all.”

He added: “ I definitely enjoyed it and don’t regret going on it.”
