Spalding's new Merkur Slots venue will open on October 10

A new adult gaming centre will open up in Spalding town centre on Monday (October 10).

Merkur Slots has been transforming the former Dorthy Perkins store in Hall Place in recent weeks - having won a planning battle for permission to open there.

The district council had rejected an application for a change of use at the shop but the decision was overturned by a planning inspector.

The shop will contain casino-style gambling machines and bingo tablets.

A spokesman said: "We are looking forward to returning a vacant unit back to commercial use, ensuring it once again contributes to the local economy.

"The venue will create new jobs and represents much-needed high street investment at a challenging time.

"Our Merkur Slots venues are where people come to enjoy a game of bingo or slots and we look forward to playing an active role in the local community.”

The firm says its store will create 8 to 10 jobs.
