Spading’s new Argos concession will be opening in Sainsbury’s soon
A new Argos concession will be opening in a Spalding supermarket in the coming days.
The existing branch in Holland Market is closing its doors and will be relocating into the nearby Sainsbury’s store.
The new Argos concession in the Holland Market supermarket is due to be opening on Friday, March 1.
The food retailer has been closing standalone Argos stores to create concessions within its Sainsbury’s sites since purchasing the company in 2016.
The firm says it will be supporting Argos staff and could be offering the opportunity to redeploy to other roles.
An Argos spokesperson said: “To make shopping more convenient for customers and to enable us to invest where it matters most, we are relocating many of our standalone Argos stores to Sainsbury’s – this includes our Spalding Argos store.
“Early next month, a brand-new Argos will open inside Sainsbury’s Spalding, enabling customers to purchase thousands of technology, home and toy products from Argos while picking up their groceries.”
Sainsbury’s has applied to South Holland District Council for planning permission to change the signage of its supermarket.
The closure of the standalone Argos site will create another empty shop within Holland Market following the closure of Wilko’s last year.
The Spalding Sainsbury’s store, like the site in Bourne, houses a Starbucks branch, which was officially opened by former chairman of South Holland District Council, Coun Paul Redgate.
And the new Argos branch is not the only grand opening which will be happening in Spalding this weekend.
The Furniture Warehouse will be creating up to five new jobs when it opens in the former Beales store in Bridge Street, Spalding, on Saturday, March 2.
