Spalding’s new Argos store is now open in Sainsbury’s
Customers are now being welcomed into the new Argos store in Spalding.
Manager Geri Koga – who has worked for the company for 20 years – and all of her team have relocated from the previous site in Holland Market into the town’s Sainsbury’s store.
Staff enjoyed a quick photograph under a balloon arch before officially being open to serve customers from 9am.
Geri, who joined Argos on October 16, 2004, is thrilled with the new store.
She said: “I think it is absolutely wonderful – it looks amazing. It has been very exciting and lovely.”
Sainsbury's bought Argos in 2016 and has been creating concessions within its supermarkets along with Starbucks – which opened in the Spalding store last year.
This latest concession can be found close to the supermarket tills.
While it is slightly smaller than its previous home, which could store 9,000 items, the new concession has space for 5,000 units which are stacked up on shelves within the store.
Area manager Andy Robinson was pleased with the look of the new store.
He said: “It is fantastic. We have been integrating Sainbury’s and Argos in one environment over the last few years and it has really driven huge levels of success between food and non-food sales.
“We are trying to create a balance between in store customers walking by and buying a product and people who reserve online and coming to collect.”
Argos store manager Geri has seen a number of changes in her 20 years of working for the company.
She said: “I have seen so many changes: the stock room, changing customer habits and the way they shop. Lots of different things.”
And she sends this message to customers: “Come and see the store. Check it out it is really lovely nice and fresh.”
