New use for former Calthrops site in Spalding
An empty town centre site could soon have a new use.
Signs for ‘European Food’ have appeared over the former Calthrops site in Market Place, Spalding.
The site has stood empty for some time after Calthrops moved out into a new office in Hall Place and over the years it has been vandalised with graffiti tags.
Street artist Karl Barfoot had decorated the boarded up shop front with a stunning artwork in May. He did this in order to cover up graffiti tags so the town looked good ahead of the Spalding Flower Parade.
Unfortunately in recent months, political messages have been sprayed over this artwork.
In 2022, permission was given to split the site into flats upstairs and shops downstairs by South Holland District Council.
