Spalding Energy Park submits plans for one of world's largest battery storage systems
Plans have been submitted to build one of the world's largest battery energy storage systems.
The Spalding Battery Energy Storage System project is being proposed by InterGen for land next to its existing power station in West Marsh Road.
The scheme is being promoted by the Department of International Trade to find an overseas investor to fund the £160 million project. The scheme could store the equivalent of the total annual energy use of 177 homes in one go - which could help power 277,000 homes in a year or fully charge up to 19,600 electric vehicles.
Spalding Energy Park Ltd has now submitted a planning application to South Holland District Council for permission to construct the project.
