Police attend Spalding’s Bakkavor factory after reports of striking staff blocking vehicles

Police attended a factory this morning after numerous reports that striking staff were blocking vehicles entering and leaving the site.

While officers ‘did not find people in the road or obstructing vehicles’ at Spalding’s Bakkavor factory, protestors were reminded of the rules regarding lawful protest.

Staff at the food manufacturing giant on West Marsh Road have been involved in industrial action since September.

“The first report was shortly before 5.30am today.

“Officers attended the site on two occasions and did not find people in the road or obstructing vehicles, and spoke with the protesters to ensure they knew the law around safe and lawful protest.”
