Popular Spalding cafe closes after 10 years
News that a popular cafe has closed its doors has been met with sadness by regulars.
Spalding’s Unique Cottage Cafe shut its doors just before Christmas, with owner Fern van Geest announcing she was moving onto ‘new adventures’.
However, the art studios, also based at the Fulney Road South site, remain open.
A statement put out over the festive period read: “After 10 successful years of running Unique Cottage Café it is time for me to leave the studios and move onto new adventures.
“As such I have made the difficult decision to close the cafe on Thursday, December 21.
“I would like to thank all my cafe team for their hard work and support and wish them all the best for the future.
“I would like to thank all our customers for their support over the last decade.”
It continued: “I know many of you will be enquiring about the re-opening of the café so please keep an eye out on the studio’s website and social media pages next year for news.”
Regulars responded to the message on social media.
