Power cut affecting villagers’ New Year’s Eve celebrations in Kirton

New Year’s Eve celebrations in a village are being affected by a power cut.

Parts of Kirton will be without electricity until around 10pm this evening, the National Grid has confirmed.

“The incident was raised at 6.29pm this evening and our engineers are working to get the power returned as quickly as possible,” a National Grid statement said.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing you.”

The problem is expected to be resolved by 10pm.

One resident posted on social media saying they had spoken to the National Grid and been told the incident was due to a ‘pole’ being ‘on fire’.
