Rounds and sounds ahead for new-look local in Long Sutton
The new landlady of a Long Sutton town centre pub is hoping to make it the local of choice for a drink and dance.
Dana Garkavaya and her staff will be pulling the pumps at The Granary in Market Street when it reopens as a bar, grill and music spot on Saturday, October 6.
The pub, one of six in South Holland owned by Long Sutton property developer Sean Portass, is undergoing a refurbishment that will lend itself to Dana's aim of bringing back the days when The Granary was a "brilliant music venue".
Dana said: "Sean has an ever-growing business with all the properties he's working on, including the former butcher's shop in Bull Lane, Long Sutton.
"Sean has always thought that Long Sutton should be a thriving town and I feel the same way after falling in love with it when I moved here seven years ago."
Regulars and visitors to The Granary will find pictures of jazz legends, such as Ray Charles and B.B. King gracing the walls of the pub when they arrive next weekend.
Along with a selection of steaks, burgers, salads and ales, the grand opening will also feature live music from ska and reggae band The Off-Beats.
Dana said: "The Granary has always been a big music venue and that's what we want to bring back because as much as we love pubs, there aren't that many night-time venues for people to go to in Long Sutton.
"We're planning to get bands in from East Anglia, as well as other parts of the country that people won't have heard of.
"People have been asking is for more ska and reggae bands so we've booked some fantastic bands from October and into the new year.
"The Granary will have a fresh grillhouse feel and I've got a fantastic team of staff in place, the best of the best, people who I trust and know will work amazingly well.
"We're all ready to go and we just want to encourage people to come and give it a try."
