Steam train to pass through Spalding today




Train spotters will be keen to look out for a steam train passing through town today.

The vintage light locomotive will be passing through Spalding as it travels from Keighley to take part in the Nene Valley Railway Christmas trains event.

The locomative is due to pass through the Railway Station 3:06pm having previously visited Quadring and Sleaford.

Operated by West Coast Railways, with speeds of 60mph reached the diesel train has a trailing load of 715 tonnes.

Departing the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway at 10:45, the locomotive, which is set to run with no support coach, will pass through Keighley (10:49), Shipley (11:00), Adwick (12:19), Doncaster (12:26), Gainsborough Lea Road (13:21), Lincoln Central (13:43), Sleaford (14:19), Spalding (15:06) and Peterborough at 15:31 before heading onto the Nene Valley Railway at 16:00.
