Spalding supermarket worker cleared of sexually assaulting another woman

A supermarket worker has walked free from court after she was cleared of sexually assaulting another woman.

Amy Stimpson, 42, of Perry Close, Spalding, had denied a single charge of assault by penetration which was alleged to have occured on September 27, 2021.

A jury at Lincoln Crown Court took less than two hours to find Stimpson not guilty of the charge by a unanimous verdict today (Wednesday).

She was discharged from the dock by Judge Simon Hirst.

The prosecution had alleged that Stimpson intentionally penetrated the other woman's vagina with her fingers.

But giving evidence during the three-day trial, Stimpson denied the accusation, telling the jury that she when she woke up the other woman's hand was on top of hers.

Stimpson, who was represented by defence barrister Karen Walton, insisted she immediately pulled away and told the other woman to ‘stop’.

When asked if she was attracted to the other woman, who can not be named to protect her anonymity, Stimpson replied: "Absolutely not."

Stimpson told the jury: "I don't like women. I like men."
