Spalding taxi company celebrates 15 years in business

The team at a South Holland taxi firm are celebrating 15 years of helping customers to get to their destinations.

Mroof Choudry was inspired to set-up 1st Choice Royal Taxis after a wet walk home from a night out in Spalding in 2004.

Since the firm was officially the following year, Mr Choudry has built up the business to run more than 70 taxis and employs more than 50 people.

During this milestone year, the firm has also launched a new app, which makes life easier for customers.

A spokesman for the company said: "Team work has been the secret of the company's success.

"We have introduced a faster and quicker service."

Mr Choudry saw an opportunity during a night out in Spalding in 2004 when he was quoted a 45 minute waiting time for a taxi.

Wasting no time to set-up the business, the ribbon was cut and 1st Choice Royal Taxis began trading on February 15, 2005.

At the beginning, the company had just four vehicles but this has grown over the last 15 years into a fleet of more than 70 taxis.

The firm has now embraced new technology by launching the Royal Taxis app and to celebrate, Mr Chowdry is running an online competition to win an iPhone.

This new app allows customers to not only order a taxi but also track where their cab is.

Along with the successful taxi firm, Mr Chowdry has also recently launched the Rustic restaurant, in Winsover Road.

The restaurant, which opened on January 20, specialises in charcoal grilled steaks and home-made burgers, as well as serving desserts. It also has a shisha bar .
