Teenager remains under investigation after alleged Spalding supermarket assault - police ask public not to share video circulating on social media
Police are asking the public not to share a video of an alleged supermarket assault.
Officers say the incident took place in Spalding last month and a teenager remains ‘under investigation’.
“We are aware of a video circulating of a young person being assaulted outside of a supermarket in Spalding on March 15,” a South Holland Police statement read.
“We know that there is a lot of concern about this video, and we want to let you know what’s happening with our investigation.
“As part of our investigation into this matter, a 14-year-old boy has been interviewed and remains under investigation with a Joint Diversionary Panel to decide on the appropriate course of action to be taken.”
The Joint Diversionary Panel (JDP) is a decision-making body of representatives from Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Children’s Services and the Youth Offending Service (YOS) who work together to review and decide the outcome of young offenders.
“We’d ask that people consider the impact that sharing this video on social media might have and opt not to add it to their feeds,” the statement added.
“Investigations remain on-going.”
