Spalding vicar reacts to ‘sad’ news of body being discovered in church yard

Rev John Bennett has reacted to the ‘sad’ news of a body being discovered in a church yard.

Police are investigating the incident after the body was discovered within a tent in the grounds of St Mary and St Nicolas Church in Spalding at 9pm on Monday.

"We're very, very sorry and sad to hear about somebody losing their life in the church yard,” Rev John said.

"I had been aware there had been people sleeping there, and I had done what I can to help them.

“But at the moment we have to wait and see what the police say, as to who it is and what the possible cause of death is."
