Fleet Community Speed Watch team to drive home new 30mph limit

Volunteers will be doing their bit to ensure that drivers keep to new lower speed limits.

Fleet Community Speed Watch team is going to be helping to drive home the new 30mph speed limit on Fleet Road when it comes into force.

Lincolnshire County Council has agreed to reduce the previous 40mph speed limit on the road which runs between Fleet Hargate and Holbeach.

Fleet district councillor Paul Barnes has previously welcomed the reduced speed limit due to increased building along the road and school children walking along the pavement.

He said: “We will soon see some roads in Fleet parish have their speed limits reduced and as I have mentioned before the challenging part will be educating drivers about the changes and if need, looking at enforcement

“Part of the ongoing education within the parish is the ongoing work carried out by the team of volunteers who are members of our Community Speed Watch team.

“They are out about regularly to identify ‘hot spots’ and encourage drivers to slow down.

“So, if you are driving in the Fleet area look out for them, slow down, give them a wave and avoid receiving a ‘note in the post’.”
